Know London through its restaurants
It is well known how the Apulian is attached to the culinary traditions of his own country. Despite living in London for many years, despite any job he does, every time he returns from Puglia, he brings “orecchiette” pasta, “burratine” cheese, “scamorzette”, olive oil and more, regardless of the weight and challenging every time his own luck with the check-in desk staff at the airport.
It is also known that the Apulian suffers when stocks run out, despite the joy that he proudly shared with flatmates, neighbours, work colleagues or just casual passers, the specialties brought from his own town in Puglia or maybe prepared by mother or grandmother.
Considering all this, we at Friends of Puglia have decided to launch a project aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Apulian, helping him to familiarise with the different ethnic cuisines in London (the invitation is open to anyone who visits our website).
This not only allows us to familiarise with food and condiments unknown to us, not only help to know the areas where ethnic restaurants are located, areas where normally we wouldn’t go, but give to spend a pleasant evening with friends.
The first appointment is at 19.30 on Thursday, 16 October 2008 with the Chinese cuisine, perhaps the most well known among the ethnic cuisines:
