As the Football World Cup in South Africa is approaching, Friends of Puglia would like to introduce you to the cuisine of Slovakia and that of New Zealand, two of the nations the Italy will play in the Group F.

Here it is another event of Friends of Puglia and ethnic restaurants in London, on Friday the 24th of April at 7:30pm with the Moroccan kitchen of Souk Medina.
The Moroccan style comes to London, moving away from the chaotic life of the metropolis, feel yourself be taken away in the tranquillity and relaxation of the riad in Morocco.

“The Hidden Art” is a documentary by Alfredo De Giuseppe, finalist for the Best Documentary prize at the London International Documentary Festival. On Wednesday the 1st of April at 6:30pm at the Barbican Arts Centre in London, there will be a screening of the documentary “The Hidden Art” of Alfredo De Giuseppe, in competition at the London International Documentary Festival.

We are not able (but we're on the case) to bring the traditional floats from Putignano, Manfredonia or Massafra. However we are celebrating Carnival with an expert wine presentation and tasting from Salento, complemented by a number of traditional local delicacies, including, if we manage to master our kneading skills, our beloved “chiacchiere” fritters.

With the intention to better know our Puglia, each year during our Christmas holidays we visit a city in the region, whose beauty and secrets are shown to other members by the local FOP members. In the past we have visited Lecce, Bari and Brindisi. This year, on 27 December we shall meet in Oria.

After the success with the Chinese cuisine, Friends of Puglia continues the project to help Apulians to familiarise with the different ethnic cuisines in London (but the invitation is open to anyone who happens to visit our website).

Again the lessons of pizzica! 3 events: on the 18th and 25th of November and the 2nd of December 2008 at the Masseria, from 6.30 to 8.30pm. For every day the first half hour will be 'dedicated to theoretical discussions.

This year Friends of Puglia will celebrate a festival in London, very cherished in Puglia: the feast of St. Martin, when traditionally the must becomes wine.

It is well known how the Apulian is attached to the culinary traditions of his own country. Despite living in London for many years, despite any job he does, every time he returns from Puglia, he brings “orecchiette” pasta, “burratine” cheese, “scamorzette”, olive oil and more, regardless of the weight and challenging every time his own luck with the check-in desk staff at the airport.

Cultural trip to Bari Vecchia with lunch at "La Cecchina" based on typical local dishes such as orecchiette with donkey meat, grilled prawns, "cartddate" with vincotto. We will also taste homemade Negroamaro and various local digestives.
